Summertime Means Winter Prep
Relaxing on the deck? Enjoying a weekend at the lake? Planning a summer getaway? With all the buzz of summer still around us, winter seems a long way off. But, before we know it, cold weather will be upon us, and here in The Mitten, we know how capricious the winter months can be. That’s why it’s important to do a little summer planning ahead to protect your home this winter.
Most of us don’t think too much about the roof. Unlike the front door or the windows, we really aren’t looking too closely at it, unless a tree limb falls onto the house or a thunderstorm brings hail and wind damage. The lazy days of summer are really a perfect time to start thinking about getting the roof ready for winter. One of the first things you can do is schedule a roof inspection.
“A roof inspection can spot any potential problems before they become major damage,” says Bob Watts, owner of Watts Roofing. “A roof inspection includes checking shingles and caps, chimney flashing, pipe boots, and vents.”
A roof inspection also includes checking for missing and damaged shingles and possible areas where water could be getting in. Don’t wait until winter, get ready today for the first snow.
